Continuous Production of Lipid Nanoparticles by Ultrasound‐Assisted Microfluidic Antisolvent Precipitation

Abstract Microfluidic processes are of interest for the production pharmaceutical nanoparticles due to uniform characteristics attainable by such devices. However, precipitation in microfluidic systems incur a high risk fouling, which compromises their reliability continuous operation. A robust ultrasound‐assisted process is established lipid mixer. The results indicate that can be produced over several hours without clogging. An analysis products reveals small number micron‐sized particles, but these did not disturb process. Thus, in‐process ultrasonication effective at improving and preventing buildup precipitates channels.
